According to reports, the couple's case, listed as 'Appleton N M v Gallagher L J P', is due to be heard at London's High Court this morning (8 April).
In July 2013, the couple confirmed their 13-year relationship had come to an end. It is thought a key factor in the split is allegations that emerged last year that said Gallagher had fathered a love-child with an American journalist while he was still married to Appleton.
Gallagher and Appleton tied the knot at Westminster Registry Office on Valentine's Day in 2008. They have one child, a son Gene, together.
