Snowdon dated the Hollywood actor on-and-off from 2002 and 2005 after they met while filming an advert.
Speaking to Best magazine, the 42-year-old said: "His fiancée sounds great. I'm happy for him.
"I'm happy for them both. It's good news. [I'm sure] millions of [women] are crying because he's off the market."
Last month, it was confirmed that Clooney, 52, was engaged to 36-year-old human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin. The pair are thought to have started dating late last year.
