The Scottish DJ took to his Twitter account over the weekend to reveal the news, a move which is said to have left his ex "a little mortified".
In a short message to his followers, 30-year-old Harris said: "To address speculation - myself and Rita ended our relationship some time ago. She is a beautiful, talented woman & I wish her all the best."
While the tweet leaves no doubt as to the state of the couple's romance, a source is quoted by The Sun as saying: "Rita was a little mortified that Calvin tweeted about the split but she's just getting on with things. She has been with Khalil [Amir Sharieff] but who knows how long it will last?"
It is thought Ora has turned to Khalil to help her through the separation, after the pair have been spending time together in the music studio recording.
No reason for the split has been given, and what makes it more interesting is that Ora, 23, has given several interviews lately, where she praised Harris and the couple's relationship.
The insider added: "A lot of things worked against her and Calvin, such as distance and hectic work schedule.
"And Rita is a self-admitted party girl. She likes to have fun and sometimes she can be hard to keep up with - not that there's anything wrong with that."
The singer is yet to comment on the reports.
