Reward For Stolen Engagement Ring

A reward of £1,000 is being offered in the hopes of recovering a bride's stolen sapphire and diamond engagement ring.

The ring was stolen from Wisborough Green church as the bride exchanged vows with her husband 10 days ago.

The ring had been placed in a black L K Bennett clutch bag with gold clasp, along with a iPhone which was on. Using the 'Find my iPhone' facility, police have been able to trace the phone's movements. In a statement, Sussex Police said they have been able to track the ring's last known location to Haywards Heath until around 6pm when it travelled to Highcroft Villas, Brighton.

The father of the groom said: "We are hoping the reward, which is quite substantial because of the huge sentimental value of the ring, will encourage someone who knows something to come forward. James put a lot of effort in creating a ring that was ethically sourced and Caroline has been left heartbroken that it is gone.

"We are working tirelessly to try and locate this ring and support the police in following up every line of enquiry. The ring is a 3.08ct. royal blue sapphire with the shoulders set with diamonds. It has three marks stamped into the inside of the band: the London assay office hallmark of a lion's head, '950' indicating 95% platinum and, most uniquely, the maker's mark 'I&R' for Ingle & Rhode."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
