One in five Britons have admitted they go on holiday shortly after a relationship break-up.
The findings, published by sunshine.co.uk, found that broken-hearted Brits will go on a trip within three months of a romance ending. Of those polled, many said it was because they need to "take their mind off the split", while a quarter confessed it was so they could find a potential new partner.
A further 17% said they were already due a holiday, and 13% said it because their friends had convinced them to treat themselves.
When it comes to booking a holiday, Ibiza tops the list for new singletons, with Rhodes coming in second place. Mallorca, Cyprus and Spain rounded out the top five destinations.
Commenting on the statistics, Chris Clarkson, Managing Director of sunshine.co.uk, said: "It was interesting to see all of the typical party destinations in the top five list of heartbreak holiday locations, with resorts such as San Antonio, Faliraki, Magaluf, Ayia Napa and Marbella probably the hardest hit by heartbroken holidaymakers.
"Getting a bunch of friends together for a few days in the sun or even going away with family can be a good way to get some distance from everything and return home to the UK with a clearer head... and maybe a new partner."
