The singer made the revelation in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey's 'O' magazine where he opened up about his divorce.
Asked about his best mistakes, the 35-year-old referenced his union to the stylist, saying: "Getting married at 28."
He explained: "Most people probably think I regret it because I ended up getting divorced, but it helped me learn that sometimes I think I know more than I actually do."
Usher, 35, and Foster started dating in November 2005. They married in 2007, but in June 2009, the singer filed for divorce. It was legally finalised that November, but then a lengthy custody battle over the couple's two children together – Usher 'Cinco' Raymond, six, and five-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond – ensued. This was not settled until August 2012, when Usher was awarded primary custody of his sons.
