The actress and her husband, former Take That singer Robbie Williams, announced they were to become parents again in April this year.
A source is quoted by The Sun newspaper as saying: "Ayda is due any day now. They are both excited to welcome a second baby into their family.
"Robbie is especially excited because he is going to have a little boy. Ayda is terrified that they baby will come early like Teddy did.
"And her midwife has told her that second babies tend to come quite quickly. So they've got the gynaecologist on speed-dial."
They added: "They've got plans in place for a home birth in case the baby catches them out and a trip to the hospital isn't possible."
Williams, 40, and Field, 35, started dating in 2006 and tied the knot in August 2010. In May 2012, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. They welcomed their daughter, Teddy Rose, that September.
