Ed Sheeran has sparked speculation that a fellow singer once stole his girlfriend.
Sheeran, 23, has previously spoken out about one of his ex-girlfriends cheating on him with someone he considered to be a friend. The experience, the singer said, led him to pen the song 'Don't', which appears on his new album. The British lad has not mentioned any names regarding the cheating claims, but many have suggested that the woman in question is Ellie Goulding.
Then, earlier this week, Sheeran was appearing on Howard Stern's US radio show, where he again confirmed the song is about a girl who cheated on him with a "mate", while they were all staying at the same hotel.
He said: "I was just a bit like, 'Erm, not cool, but...' We haven't really spoken since then."
He was then asked if the friend was "the guy from One Direction", which led the singer to reply: "Well, it depends which one you're talking about."
Shortly after his answer, rumours were rife that the girl in question was either Ellie Goulding, who briefly dated Niall Horan, or Taylor Swift, who dated Harry Styles for a few months in 2012. However, Sheeran has previously denied reports that the song is about Ms Swift.
