According to TMZ, Ms Rose cited "irreconcilable differences" as her grounds for separation.
Speculation has since emerged that the couple both believe the other one has been unfaithful during their relationship. Amber allegedly believes her husband has been seeing other women "for months", while Khalifa, 27, has reportedly accused his wife of becoming close to her manager Nick Cannon – who recently separated from his own wife Mariah Carey.
A source is quoted by TMZ as saying: "Amber's telling friends; she wanted to join Wiz on the tour [in July] but he came up with a panoply of excuses, the most frequent of which... she should stay home with their one-year-old."
This is thought to have increased her suspicions that her partner was being unfaithful. The publication claims that divorce papers show Amber is seeking full legal and physical custody of the couple's son, one-year-old Sebastian, and is allowing Khalifa visitation rights.
The couple started dating in early 2011. They announced their engagement in March 2012 and married in July 2013. Their son was born in February 2013.
