According to TMZ, 38-year-old Patton has cited "irreconcilable differences" in her divorce petition. She has also sought joint physical and legal custody of the couple's son Julian.
Following the pair's separation earlier this year, Thicke, 37, publicly pleaded with his wife to take him back and give their marriage another chance, even releasing a single and dedicating his new album to her. A definitive reason for the couple's split has never been given, although the singer has previously said he is to blame.
Patton and Thicke were childhood sweethearts, first meeting when they were teenagers. They dated for a number of years and tied the knot in 2005. Their son, Julian, was born in 2010.
