The couple have not confirmed the due date themselves, but speaking on RTÉ's 'Morning Ireland' programme, O'Dowd's father Sean, revealed the news.
In an interview with host Rachael English, he said of his unborn grandchild: "I was tapping it's outer skin – in other words its mammy's tummy – last night and Dawn is in the very best of form.
"It will be the first child for Chris, and the first child for Dawn, It will be our tenth grandchild. Please God, towards the end of January I will be a grandfather for the tenth time."
O'Dowd and O'Porter, both 35, first shared their pregnancy news in August after he nominated his unborn child to take part the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge craze. In the footage, the actor discussed the social media challenge before adding: "I'd like to nominate Baby O'Porter."
The camera then panned around to his pregnant wife who proceeded to pour a small glass of water over her baby bump.
The proud parent-to-be then comments: "So brave!"
The couple married in August 2012 and have previously spoken of their desire to start a family.
