The singer appeared at the CMA Awards on Wednesday night when her co-host Brad Paisley appeared to let the news slip.
In September, Underwood, 31, and her husband Mike Fisher announced they were to become parents for the first-time. They have remained quiet on whether they are expecting a boy or girl, but during the awards ceremony, Paisley revealed the baby's gender during a skit.
Speaking to the audience, he joked: "And we're pregnant!"
Underwood then replied: "Brad, I don't remember you being there,” to which he said: "Carrie, you can't keep me out of this child's life."
He then asked if it was a boy or a girl the singer was expecting and after she whispered in his ear, he triumphantly declared: "I know something you all don't know."
He later added: "We should name him Garth," referencing country music legend Garth Brooks as he gestured to Carrie's baby bump.
Underwood, 31, and Fisher first met in 2008. After secretly dating for around a year, the couple announced their engagement and in 2010, they married in front of 250 guests.
