Fianna Fáil Senator Averil Power produced the legislation, which has been co-sponsored by Jillian van Turnhout and Fidelma Healy Eames.

Having access to a birth certificate, would allow an adopted person to see their original name, as well as that of their parents. The Bill would also allow adoptees and their parents to be able to decide whether or not to share contact details.
