Sham Marriage Gang Jailed

Four people have been jailed for their roles in a sham marriage gang, it has been reported.

The marriages were arranged between Pakistani grooms and British brides.

According to the BBC, 38-year-old Masoud Rasab organised three sham weddings between November 2011 and June 2012 in the East Midlands.

He was also found guilty of conspiracy to facilitate a breach of UK immigration law, alongside Umair Hussain and the 'brides' Sabrina Khan and Alisha Mahmood.

Keeley Cox, another bride, also pleaded guilty to the same charge.

A fifth person is due to be sentenced today, it is understood.

Rasab was sentenced to four years in prison, while Khan was jailed for two years and six months. Hussain and Mahmood were each handed 21-month jail terms.

All four were sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court earlier this week, following an investigation by the Home Office.
