Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross are expecting a baby girl.
The couple announced their pregnancy news in December last year, but admitted they wanted to discover the sex of their unborn child – so they could get a head-start on decorating the nursery.
Speaking to People magazine, Simpson, 30, said: "We're having a girl! I like to know – I want to do the nursery."
The singer, who is also a mum to six-year-old son Bronx from her former marriage to Pete Wentz, added that her eldest is looking forward to the new arrival.
"I told him [Bronx] pretty early on [about the pregnancy]. And he wanted to have a sister, so he's really excited. He's got a little brother. Now he's going to have a little sister."
In July 2013, Simpson and Ross, 26, were said to have been in a relationship. They announced their engagement in January 2014 and married that August at the estate of Ross's mother – singer Diana Ross. In December, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together.
Simpson is also a mum to Bronx, six, from her former marriage to singer Pete Wentz. The pair married in May 2008 and confirmed they were expecting their first child together just two weeks later. Their son was born that November. In February 2011, Simpson filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences". Their separation was finalised in November 2011. Last year, Wentz, 35, and his current girlfriend, Meagan Camper, welcomed a son, Saint Laszlo.
