Man Dies In Wedding Shooting

A man has died following a shooting incident at a wedding in Northern Ireland.

The victim, said to be in his 60s, was shot and seriously injured at St Mary's Church in Newtownbutler, Co Fermanagh. He was airlifted to hospital by a PSNI helicopter but later died from his injuries.


A second man, in his 30s, was also shot, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The shooting happened at around 1pm on Wednesday (11 February). It is understood the wedding at the church involved two families from the travelling community.

According to Father Michael King, the priest appointed to conduct the wedding, the ceremony went ahead following the shooting as the family said they wanted the mass to continue.
