The couple, who star on The Only Way Is Essex together, dated in 2014. After a few months together, they separated and then reunited again shortly before the Christmas holidays. However, the day after Christmas, Wright broke up with his partner.
At the time, it was reported the timing just wasn't right for the couple, but now the 34-year-old has revealed the reasons behind their split. Appearing on the Season 10 opening episode of TOWIE last night (22 February), Wright said: "I spend more time with my kids than she thought I did – and she couldn't handle it."
He added that while the relationship was "all good", it took a turn for the worse over the Christmas holidays when his two children came to stay with him for the holidays.
"We got together when we were in Alicante; she [Chloe] was on holiday with her daughter Maddie, and I was there with my two kids. Because of that, I thought she accepted the fact that I have children.
"But in the end, she found it too difficult. She expects me to take on Maddie but she can't accept that I come as a unit too."
He then, perhaps cruelly, said: "At the end of the day, women fall into two categories; the ones you play with and the ones you marry. She isn't the latter."
Chloe herself later seemed to verify her ex's claims during a conversation with her TOWIE co-star Danielle Armstrong.
She said: "I told him that if he wants a glorified nanny then I'm not cut out for the job. He doesn't understand how overwhelming it all was.
"I tried to talk to him but he took that as me not wanting to spend time with his kids – but that wasn't the case. It was our first Christmas together and he wasn't making a fuss over me.
"Then my whole life began to flash before my eyes. We had only just got back together and all of a sudden we were like this family unit."
Wright has two children from a former marriage. He separated from his wife in 2013, and he currently splits his time between the UK and Spain, where his children live with their mother. Sims is also a mum to Madison, nine, from a previous relationship.
