Nikki Sanderson has addressed reports that she is dating a married man.
The actress has been romantically linked to her long-time friend Greg Whitehurst in recent times, and over the weekend, the pair made their first public debut. However, the news comes just months after Whitehurst's marriage to his long-time partner Sarah ended. The couple tied the knot 10 months ago – with Sanderson being a guest at their wedding.
In a statement to the MailOnline, the 31-year-old said: "I have known Greg and his family for many years. Greg's marriage ended in January, it was a very difficult time for him during which all of his friends and family supported him.
"We have started recently dating and its early days, so we are not rushing into anything but are both enjoying each other's company."
There is nothing to suggest Sanderson had any involvement in the split.
At the beginning of the year, Whitehurst took to Twitter to say: "Starting the New Year as man and wife. I think @sh_2310 [Sarah's Twitter handle] has got the raw end of the deal."
Just weeks later, Whitehurst was posting about romantic weekends away and date nights – with Sanderson.
According to the Sunday People, Whitehurst and his wife had separated before he started dating his friend, but a source is quoted by the publication as saying: "We can't believe it's all happened so quickly."
