The man, aged 28, was arrested on Sunday night and taken into police custody where he was interviewed. It is understood the man approached a member of the public in Deansgate, near Barton Arcade at around 2.30pm on Sunday (12 July). He had a baby girl inside a pram and the accused is said to have offered to sell the baby.
The 28-year-old, who has not been named, has been bailed until September pending further enquiries.
Police have said the three-month-old girl is "safe and well".

A man arrested on suspicion of child neglect has been released on bail, Greater Manchester Police has confirmed.The man, aged 28, was arrested on Sunday night and taken into police custody where he was interviewed.
