The actress and her husband, musician James Righton, welcomed their first child together in May. The couple have kept their relationship out of the spotlight and have not released any details regarding their daughter.
However, in a new interview with ELLE magazine, the 30-year-old revealed that their daughter is called Edie.
And about becoming a mother, she added: "The love thing is astonishing. It's a very primal, primal love. That's quite extraordinary.
"And the ability to have no sleep and continue going. It's not pleasant – I never thought that I could actually do it for the amount of time that I've done it."
Knightley and Righton started dating in February 2011. They married in a low-key ceremony in the south of France in May 2013. The following year, following weeks of speculation, Knightley confirmed in December that she was pregnant.
