The pair, who both star on Coronation Street, have been spotted together on a few occasions lately, and hugging. Their closeness led to speculation that they were romantically involved, but their co-star Kym Marsh has now said this is not the case.
The pair were spotted at the TV Choice Awards and then again the next morning, but writing in her column for OK! magazine, Marsh said: "There was also a picture of them cuddling the next day [after the TV Choice Awards]. I know there were some comments about whether they're an item, but that's just Ali – she hugs everyone!
"She holds my hand and cuddles and kisses me. She's very tactile and affectionate and so is Shayne. That's just how we are at work – there's nothing more to it than that!"
