Chrissy Teigen has revealed she and her husband John Legend have spoken to fertility doctors after struggling to start a family.
The 29-year-old made the confession during ABC show FABLife. Telling her fellow panellists and the audience, the model said: "I will say honestly, John and I were having trouble [conceiving]. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it happened. But my gosh, it's been a process.
"We've seen fertility doctors and once you open up about those things to other people, you learn that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it."
She went on to say that the constant speculation and questioning as to when she is going to have children, is hurtful.
"It's kind of crazy because I can't imagine being that nosy to be like, 'So, when are the kids coming?' because who knows what somebody's going through," she explained. "So anytime somebody asks if I'm going to have kids I'm just like, 'One day you're going to ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling and it's going to be really hurtful to them and I hate that. Stop asking me."
Teigen's comments struck a chord with co-host Tyra Banks, who then broke down in tears over criticism she has faced because she has not had any children.
"I'm so tired of seeing on my social media, 'Why don't you have kids? Why don't you have kids?'
"You don't know. You don't know what I'm going through," the 41-year-old added. "You have no idea."
She admitted how she was always sure that she would have a large family, but was left surprised when that didn't happen.
The former model emotionally confessed: "For a long time, it was so funny. I was 23-years-old, I used to tell myself, 'In three years I'm going to have kids.'
"Then I turned 24; 'In three years I'm going to have kids.' Every single year I just kept saying that. And then after a while it's like, now I want to, it's not so easy."
Teigen and her husband, 36-year-old John Legend, started dating in 2007, having met on the set of his music video 'Stereo'. In December 2011, the couple became engaged. They tied the knot in September 2013 in Como, Italy.
Banks, 41, has been in a relationship with Erik Asla, 50, for two years.
