"Everything happens for a reason. If something isn't meant to be, it won't be."
The confirmation comes just weeks after the couple's relationship was said to be in trouble.
Simpson and Rayment started dating in January of this year, having met at the National Television Awards. In June, they announced their engagement. They had planned to marry in 2016.
