Ben Cohen has reportedly been caught sending a series of friendly text messages to actress Gemma Oaten, despite being in a relationship with Kristina Rihanoff.
According to the Sunday Mirror, 38-year-old Rihanoff discovered the messages, but her boyfriend has denied that he has been having an affair. It is understood Cohen and Oaten met through the rugby star's anti-bullying StandUp Foundation and swapped numbers. However, despite their correspondence said to be "professional", a friend of Rihanoff's informed the dancer about the messages, leading to a showdown.
The publication quotes a source as saying: "He [Ben] sent a frantic group text, apologising for the childish nature of it all but explaining that Kristina had been told he was pestering Gemma for a date.
"Kristina was clearly concerned someone else was getting her hands on her man... Gemma told Kristina she was a beautiful woman and she had a lovely trustworthy boyfriend in Ben."
Ms Oaten has since confirmed the messages, telling the paper: "[The messages] were harmless but I was a little confused about what to make of them at first. I respect he has a girlfriend and we have never been more than just friends."
A spokesperson for Rihanoff has since spoken to the MailOnline, adding: "This story is ridiculous tittle tattle. Kristina, Ben and Gemma are good friends who met through Ben's charity work. Kristina and Gemma have stayed in touch by Twitter and there was never any misunderstanding."
Rihanoff and Cohen, 37, confirmed they were an item earlier this year, after months of speculation. The pair first met in 2013 having been paired on BBC talent show Strictly Come Dancing. Shortly after they met, Cohen split from his wife Abby after 11 years of marriage.
