Thompson and Watson started dating in 2014, but spent some time apart this summer when Watson spent some time in Hong Kong. While there, she grew close to another man and ended up sharing a kiss with him, after admitting she was insecure about her romance with Sam. Around that time, a friend of Tiffany's had told her that she'd spotted Sam being very friendly with another woman in Raffles nightclub in Chelsea while she was away. However, Sam insisted that he hadn't kissed the mystery woman and it was just messing around. Tiffany didn't tell her boyfriend about the kiss once she returned home, but was persuaded to do so by her sister Lucy and their friend Stephanie Pratt – so she did.
When Tiffany brought up their romantic troubles while she was in Hong Kong, her partner waved if off, saying: "It was something, but we got over it."
Undeterred, she pushed ahead, explaining: "A few things you said to me made me feel insecure. It led me to be close with someone else... I kissed someone. It was just a kiss. I didn't want to keep it from you. It was really stupid."
Sam, once he got over his shock, started to curse and replied: "I was literally gonna tell you I loved you... I don't know what else to say."
"I don't want to break up. I know that's your decision. I am in love with you," Tiffany pleaded, but it fell by the wayside with Sam concluding: "I don't know what to say. Right now, I think we are done... yeah."
