McFadden and Katona married in 2002, but split two years later. They have two children together, Molly, 14, and 12-year-old Lilly-Sue, but the 25-year-old has now said he is happy to look after all of his ex's children is she needs some time to herself.
Speaking to OK! magazine, the former Westlife singer revealed: "I've told her that I'm there for her if she needs me. Molly and Lilly are spending a bit of time at mine at the moment but I've said that I'll look after all her kids if she needed a break."
He added that while he doesn't "really know the ins and outs" of Katona's split from Kay, his ex-wife is "very upset".
Earlier this month, Katona, also 35, confirmed her marriage to Kay had come to an end after just 13 months. The news came shortly after the former rugby player was alleged to have been arrested after attacking her at their family home, and possessing a Taser.
Katona is a mother of five; Molly 14, and Lilly Sue, 12, from her first marriage to Brian McFadden; Heidi, eight, and seven-year-old Max from her second marriage to Mark Croft, and 18-month-old daughter Dylan Jorge from her marriage to Kay.
