Investigative journalist Donal has denied cheating on his wife and is still living in the family home. However, the pair who married in 2006, are not believed to be together.
Ameera called him a "lying, cheating scumbag" on social media.
Speaking to the Mirror newspaper Ameera said: "I was just so angry that I lashed out. I wasn't thinking. But now that it's out there, I just want Donal to tell the truth. I suppose I'm only doing to him what he’s done to other criminals in his television shows.
"I told Donal that people make mistakes. I said I still loved him and I don’t want to lose our family.
"This isn't about humiliating him. I just want him to say that I did not get the wrong end of the stick and apologise publicly."
