Speaking to ES Magazine, the 21-year-old discussed the couple's romance, as well as their plans for the future, after they announced their engagement last month.
The Olympic diver is quoted as saying: "Marriage is a sign of commitment between two people and something I always thought would happen when I was a kid. I didn't know it would be with a man, but here he is."
In December 2013, Daley shared a YouTube video in which he announced that he was gay and in a relationship with another man. It was later revealed that he was dating 41-year-old Lance Black.
The couple have not yet said when they will marry, but it is thought they will wait until after Daley's appearance at the Olympic Games in Rio in August next year.
