Speaking to People magazine about the accolade, 40-year-old Beckham said: "It's a huge honour and I'm very pleased to accept. I never feel that I'm an attractive, sexy person. I mean, I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don't ever think of myself that way."
He added that his wife, Victoria, had congratulated him on being named sexiest man alive, joking: "I would hope that she feels this way about me all the time anyway!"
David and Victoria, 41, started dating in 1997. They became engaged in January 1998 and in July 1999, they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Luttrellstown Castle, Ireland. They have four children; sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, and daughter Harper.
