According to GolfCentralDaily.com, the website claims the golfer proposed to his partner in Paris. The news comes just hours after the 26-year-old posted a photograph of the Eiffel Tower to his Facebook page on Thursday. However, there was no mention to a possible engagement.
The website claimed: "I'm not ordinarily into news but here's a World Exclusive for you. It's official. Rory McIlroy is engaged to marry his girlfriend Erica Stoll after he got down on one knee and made a romantic proposal last night.
"Perhaps it was fitting that the venue for the proposal was Paris, after a tough couple of weeks for the city.
"I have no further details as to the wedding date, except to say the news is 100% official from several mutual friends. I'm sure an official statement will follow which tonnes of other sites will have. But remember where you heard it first."
McIlroy, who is from Holywood in Co Down, was previously engaged to tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, but he ended their relationship in 2014 – just days after the couple sent out their wedding invites. The golfer has been dating Ms Stoll for around a year.
