The couple, who have been together for more than 20 years, announced their engagement earlier this year – after Miss Mas decided to propose.
Speaking to Radio Times, the EastEnders' actor – whose character Mick is due to marry his fiancée Linda in this year's Christmas special – said: "I've been with my partner Jo for more than 20 years, since we were both 14. We're totally committed.
"So getting married is just about celebrating our love and cementing it with a bit of paper. We probably should've done it years ago, to be honest – she's my girl and we want to get all legal.
"September is the vibe at the moment, but it could be sooner. I don't want it to be even 5% as eventful as Mick and Linda's! It gives me the horrors just thinking about it!"
Dyer and Mas have been in a relationship since 1992. They have three children together; daughters Dani and Sunnie, and son Arty.
