Kristina Rihanoff has discussed her "shock" pregnancy.
The interview comes just days after the former Strictly Come Dancing star revealed the news herself. The 38-year-old is currently competing in Celebrity Big Brother, and last Thursday told her housemates – and the British public – that she was pregnant with her first child.
Now, in an interview with Hello! magazine, Rihanoff has spoken of the moment she discovered she was to become a mother.
She told the publication: "It [the pregnancy] was a surprise but I am obviously delighted. My mother was with me over Christmas and when we found out she put her arms around me and she cried with joy.
"It is her lifelong dream for me to have a child and it was lovely to see her so happy."
She added that now she is no longer dancing, she has chosen to re-evaluate the direction her life will now take.
"I think I am on a new path," she commented. "Learning about myself, how to relax and how to enjoy a more simple and balanced life. I can't say I'm not nervous. But I'm very excited about the future."
When she revealed her baby news last week, Rihanoff said she was almost three months pregnant. This will be the first child for the dancer and her boyfriend Ben Cohen. The couple first met in 2013 when they were partnered during Strictly Come Dancing. Throughout the show, they were rumoured to have grown close – something they both denied. However, shortly after the series ended, Cohen ended his 10-year marriage to wife Abbie. He and Rihanoff later confirmed they were in a relationship.
