The couple, who have three children together, have been in a relationship for 24 years, but they only became engaged in 2015 when Mas proposed to her boyfriend.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, the 38-year-old actor spoke about the couple's plans for their big day, saying: "We are starting the process of [wedding planning] actually. We just got Christmas out of the way so you know the governor and the missus indoors, she's starting that process off.
"Yeah, it's happening this year. Maybe September, August, around that sort of time. Petrified. Just want to sit in the [toilet] on my own, know what I mean? But in a nice way.
"But no, I'll let the missus deal with that. She's the brains of the outfit."
Dyer and Mas have three children together; daughters Dani, 18, and seven-year-old Sunnie, and 15-month-old son Arty.
