Mariah Carey and James Packer are reportedly engaged.
The couple, who have been dating for less than a year, are understood to have become engaged on Thursday night.
A representative for the singer has confirmed the news to Daily Mail Australia. In a short statement, they said: "Yes, the couple were engaged tonight in New York."
The singer, 45, was spotted wearing a massive diamond ring on Thursday night, and TMZ has said that her partner had organised a private dinner at Eleven Madison Park in New York with some of Carey's closest friends in attendance. When he proposed, it was "in front of the most special people in her life", the publication added.
Carey and 47-year-old billionaire Packer are thought to have started dating last year. Their first public appearance together was in Italy in June 2015 when they were spotted holding hands. They have since taken a number of holidays together, some of which the couple have been joined by Carey's four-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. The children are from the singer's former marriage to Nick Cannon.
While no further details have been released, this will be the third wedding for both Carey and Packer.
