James Greig appears on the cover on one knee and is holding an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Katie Moore. Next to him, are the words: "Will you marry me, Katie?"
While many people saw the proposal, the Observer magazine later tweeted to reveal Katie's answer. They told their followers: "Katie said yes!"
According to the magazine, the couple first met in New York through friends and began a relationship, despite Ms Moore living in the city and Mr Greig living some 3,500 miles away in London. They had their first 'proper' date six weeks after they met.
In 2014, Ms Moore moved to London and she and her fiancé now live together in south London.
The Observer said Greig's proposal is a 'first' for a national newspaper.
