Sources told The Sun that Tess had no idea he was texting Rhian over many months until he came clean the day before.
A source told the publication: "She would never have allowed that — it's disgusting to her after that woman came close to destroying their marriage before."
Vernon denied anything happened between the pair and claimed they were only in contact as she had information about the sexting scandal which happened six years ago.
He said: "I recognise how it may look when messages are pulled out of context but there was never any inappropriate intent to our communication. I was merely trying to find answers to questions I've had since 2010.
"Tess is aware of everything that has been discussed with Rhian."
