The couple, who have been in a relationship for five years, confirmed the news in a joint interview with OK! magazine.
Speaking to the publication, O'Brien, 32, admitted she was surprised when her partner proposed. She said: "My heart was hammering, I opened the door and Adam was standing there in his shirt and all smartly dressed. There were candles all around the room and flowers and petals on the bed in the shape of a heart.
"He immediately got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. He said lots of lovely words but I can't remember any of them."
Her fiancé added: "I'd been sitting for a while thinking about what I was going to say and getting more and more nervous. Every second felt like an hour."
"We couldn't be any happier," O'Brien continued. "I feel like the luckiest woman on the planet, I really do. Adam's my best friend."
O'Brien and Crofts have one child together; 19-month-old son Beau. The actress is also a mum to daughter Scarlett, seven, from her former relationship with Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas.
