The call follows a parliamentary debate in Westminster Hall last week which covered discrimination in pregnancy.
Prepared by the charity Maternity Action, it was outlined in a parliamentary briefing for MPs and encourages the government to work with midwives to provide a hard copy of the information a woman received at her first antenatal appointment.
The briefing read: "All women should be given a hard copy leaflet at their first antenatal appointment, which briefly outlines their maternity rights at work and signposts to key sources of information and advice.
"The leaflet should include a tear-off sheet for women to give to their employers which similarly lists key legal obligations and signposts to key sources of information and advice."
It also calls on employers to look at their internal workplace practices "by examining their retention rates for pregnant women."
