It is understood the 26-year-old and her fiancé Timothy Spear became engaged at the weekend after a romantic picnic in Orange County.
According to People magazine, Potter's mother, Robin Sinkhorn, is quoted as saying: "He picked out the ring, made payments on it, and then planned the picnic and the moment to get down on one knee to ask her to promise to be his one-and-only and marry him when they are ready. Then they watched the sunset together."
Spear, who is also 26, is said to have proposed with a promise ring.
