New Mums Have 'Positive Maternity Experiences'

A new report has claimed that a majority of new mothers in England have received a positive maternity experience.

The publication, by The Picker Institute Europe, said that while evidence from national surveys is "encouraging", there is still room for further improvement.

The findings echo those of England's National maternity review.

The policy briefing said that to improve maternity experiences for new mums, care providers need to listen and respond to user feedback. It added that while results from surveys should be "powerful tools" to ensure that staff feel supported to provide the best quality care, these should be backed up with other evidence, including feedback given by families.

The full report can be read here.
