The former Shameless actress made the confession during an interview with The Mirror.
Malone, who is 53, added that she has given herself six months in order to fall pregnant.
She told the newspaper: "March is my cut-off point. If I'm not pregnant by then, I'll have to leave it. I think, for me, over 55 is too old to have a baby.
"I'm 54 in January – but if someone else wanted to have IVF at 63, then whatever floats your boat."
She added: "We have to make a decision by February. I would go for it in March if Paul gave me the OK in January. I could still cope with sleepless nights."
Malone and her husband, 34-year-old Paul Chase, are already parents to a daughter, Flame, who was born in December 2013. Malone is also a mum to a grown-up daughter named Dannielle, from a previous relationship.
