She died of cancer in April, however he said he still hears her voice in his sleep.
Speaking to the Sunday People, he said: "When I dream that she's still here and then I wake up and she's not, that's the hardest.
"It was a devastating thing because we found out she had lung cancer - she didn't know. She had emphysema, you see, then all of a sudden, boom. I was on tour at the time and I came home and they didn't know how long we had.
"It was terminal. So I had to stop at that point and I didn't know whether I would be able to sing again because it hurt so much because we had been together since we were kids.
"It's still hard. I didn't know whether I'd be able to get up on stage and be emotional with songs, especially songs that she liked. But I can be and it's lifted me up and she's there."
