Defending their decision, the Olympic cycling couple said it was because they wanted to keep their big day as low key as possible.
Appearing together on ITV's Loose Women, Trott, 24, explained: "We kept it as low key as we could. We actually only had 63 people at the daytime bit.
"We told everyone at British Cycling that they weren't coming to the daytime, they're all for the evening, so not actually that many people knew, so we didn't have to tell that many people, 'You have to keep it quiet'.
"Then, when we were on any sort of TV interview, we just told a little porkie and said it wasn't until next year."
Trott, and 28-year-old Kenny married in September at the Hilltop Country House in Cheshire.
