The UFC champ made the comment at the weekend following his latest win against Eddie Alvarez.
He is quoted by the media as saying: "I'm going to be a daddy early next year", adding that it is "going to mess with my head".
McGregor's second round knockout of Alvarez at Madison Square Garden in New York made him the first fighter to hold two UFC titles at the same time.
After the win, he spoke of how he'd like to bring up his child, admitting: "I don't want a celebrity type [of thing], I hate all that. I don't want my family to be like that.
"That's going to be a little thing in the back of my head. I'm just going to have this baby, take a little bit of time and see how I feel after that."
It will be the first child for McGregor, 28, and his girlfriend Dee Devlin.
