The singer and actress is set to marry her old friend, but admits that she is yet to actually start planning their big day.
The 45-year-old separated from her husband Taye Diggs in December 2013, and after the couple started the process to formally end their 10-year marriage, Menzel said she decided to call Aaron.
Speaking on U.S. cooking show, The Chew, she said: "We met a long time ago, and then I was getting divorced and I had a couple drinks one night. I decided, 'Where was that guy? Let me give him a call.'"
The pair stayed in touch and started dating, with Aaron proposing in September last year.
Discussing their wedding, she added: "I have no wedding plans. Everybody keeps asking me but I don't know what I wanna do. You know, it's your second time, you don't wanna make a big deal about it."
Menzel's divorce from Diggs was finalised in December 2014. The former couple have one child together; a seven-year-old son called Walker.
