According to E! News, a source is quoted as saying: "The relationship just ran its course. They are still good friends."
Wesley, 34, and 27-year-old Tonkin met in 2012 on the set of American television drama The Vampire Diaries. However, it was only the following year when the pair were said to be romantically involved.
Speculation that their relationship was in trouble first emerged in December 2016 when they were last spotted together in public.
They have also failed to post anything on their respective social media accounts about each other – something they regularly did throughout their relationship.
Neither Wesley nor Tonkin have commented on the split claims.
