The singer, who is 73, admitted that he kept his sexuality a secret for years because he was afraid of disappointing his fans.
In 2014, he tied the knot with his long-term partner and business manager Garry Kief and said that while he "never did anything" to address speculation surrounding his private life, he was moved by the support he received from fans when news of the couple's wedding broke.
He is quoted by People magazine as saying: "When they found out Garry and I were together, they were so happy. The reaction was so beautiful – strangers commenting, 'Great for you!' I'm just so grateful for it."
Manilow and Kief first met in 1978 and have been together for almost 40 years. The couple married in a secret ceremony in Palm Springs, California, in April 2014. However, news of their marriage only came to light the following year.
