The couple are said to have met at Elton John's 70th birthday party last month and hit it off. At the time, a source told Hollywood Life: "She [Katy] was totally giggling and at one point he had his hand on her knee. Then he took off, but came back late for more flirting."
However, on Sunday, the 42-year-old took to Twitter to deny the reports.
In capital letters, he wrote: "I AM NOT DATING KATY PERRY. BARELY KNOW HER. PLEASE STOP FLYING HELICOPTERS OVER MY HOUSE. SHE IS NOT HERE. thx (sic)."
Then, on Monday, Perry decided to tweet the actor and 'apologise' for the hassle.
She replied: "Hi, nice to meet you, sorry bout that @RyanPhilippe carry on, lol (sic)."
She then added: "Can u let me out of this basement plz? (sic)."
