The 30-year-old, who rose to fame on US television show The Hills, announced the news to US Weekly. Her child is due in October.
Speaking to the publication, Montag's husband – Spencer Pratt – said that he recently woke up in the couple's beach house in Santa Barbara to find his wife standing over him and looking excited. He explained: "The look on her face... I can't even describe it. She was literally glowing. I thought she was about to say she made muffins or banana bread."
She, however, told him that she was pregnant with their first child together.
"Heidi has wanted to be a mom since the day I met her," Spencer, 33, continued. "She has planned and thought about this."
The couple married in 2009 and have previously spoken about their desire to start a family.
