Cathy Warwick, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), was invited to officially open the pool.
Caroline Diamond, Lead Midwife for Maternity Inpatients, said: "The use of water as pain relief during labour and birth has been found to be very effective, resulting in less use of pain relief and providing a positive experience for our mothers.
"We are delighted with the new facility and that we can now offer mothers a wider choice in terms of how they labour and deliver."

A new birthing pool has been officially launched at the maternity unit of Causeway Hospital.The addition of the pool provides more choice for pregnant women at the hospital.
